Kathy Malone

Kathy Malone
ManGuard Systems, Inc. has been a vertical market, Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) solutions (software) company for 26 years. We have developed applications that have been acknowledged as “best practice” in the EH&S. Kathy started the business originally as a consulting business, recognized the need for software to perform those functions, and it became a case of “the tail wagging the dog”. Kathy started in a mile-square automotive plant (cast engines at one end, drive cars off the line at the other) performing on paper the functions that became the software. She is obsessive about combining accuracy (can you say EPA and OSHA) and workflow efficiency. She has participated in consulting projects addressing enterprise design and workflow as well as overseeing design, build, and implementation of specific functional modules for the ManGuard software down to the single user level. In the business since dual floppy disk PC’s started to replace mainframe timeshare applications, their code has been rebuilt 7 times so far to reflect changing technology, with another rebuild in progress.

Among the sites that he has created are: http://www.realtechnologyheroes.com - A parody of the famous bud light commercials with a slant toward the geek side of software development http://www.xmlpitstop.com - A site focused on highlighting resources for developers who work with XML. http://www.nonprofitways.com - A volunteer .NET development community where volunteer .NET developers can create .NET websites for NonProfit organizations. http://www.dwightBobbleheads.com - A fun site for fans of the office.
